Implant overdentures: bars and other attachments
A removable denture on implants snaps securely onto a few implants. It doesn't rock or slip, but you can still take it out to clean it.
How it differs from an ordinary denture
An ordinary denture rests on the gums and can move. This one is held by implants, so it sits snugly, doesn't rub the gums, and lets you chew with more confidence.
Bar or buttons
The denture is held either on a metal bar that links the implants, or on several separate fasteners. This bar is not the same as the frame of a fixed full arch. A denture on a bar can be taken out.
Who it suits
People who want a firmer hold than an ordinary denture gives, but a fixed arch doesn't fit their budget or their bone. It needs fewer implants.
